Christmas 2016 I had the opportunity to appear on Kirstie Allsopp's Handmade Christmas programme on channel 4.

The competition was to make the best advent calendar and I was up against some tough competition including Betsy Benn and and Origami Est.

You can still view the programme on demand here.

I took inspiration from traditional paper advent calendars and combined this with my free motion embroidery design work to create my advent calendar.

I used homes of my friends and family to create the streets and the doors open to show photographs of the hone owners.

My design concept is shown here and this was sent into the programme creators who liked my ideas and asked me to participate in the show.

As well as the homes making the numbers on the advent calendar I also incorporated a post box and some trees that contained hidden chocolate!

Filming was so much fun and the competition was won by Origami Est. who created a beautiful range of origami boxes that contained a range of gifts. Congratulation Esther!
